A story like this begins innocently with us – Karolina and Michal from Gdansk dreamed about furniture for the living room from Wood Republic. They decided to use the visit to Poznan to visit us and personally check the quality of our products (to which we encourage you all the time!). The tests were successful for us, and we hear the echoes of these visits until today, smiling at the memories of the buzz and joy that filled the workshop and carpentry thanks to the kids running with our special guest guardian – Slowacki the dog.
This time our seaside story will not focus on the customization stage, because it went very quickly. The APEX.2 bookcase chosen by the pair had an oak finishing and a bespoke internal modules. As a companion to the living room pieces, they chose DRUPAL tv unit, which, after a slight metamorphosis, abandoned the open form of DRUPAL.1 and closed its interiors to the curious eyes. All the equipment could be hidden in it, and the APEX.2 bookcase as a companion to DRUPAL changed its form of the legs to sloping ones.
Karolina and Michal set us one more challenge. In the space of their home, they dreamed of separating the bedroom space from the living room. However, they did not want to put up a typical wall there, although they had been looking for a solution for a long time that would provide them with intimacy and at the same time would not completely separate these two places. We offered them a plywood wall called lamellas, which, thanks to its openwork form, has a visual lightness, and on the other hand allows for smooth see-through effect of these two spheres of the house. However, the final effect largely depended on our assembly on site, and this is where the whole Gdansk adventure begins.
We are very happy to meet you in our studio, lively discussing possible projects, but we also like those moments when we can come to your homes with ready-made furniture. Gdansk, as befits the winter season, welcomed us quite cool – with snow and wind. But we eagerly started moving the furniture into a new home. Well, a little surprise met us here. It turned out that the target location of the living room, i.e. the 1st floor of the house, required passage through a rather narrow staircase, which the owners had not foreseen at all. APEX.2, with its bloated form, defended itself as much as possible from being forced into a too small corridor. We had to capitulate, but not so completely… We decided to follow the old proverb and, if it is impossible to enter in the traditional form, use the emergency entrance. Balcony! Unfortunately, it was located on the 2nd floor. This did not discourage us, the whole family, grandfather, neighbor, all hands on deck were involved in the work. Some went for special belts to pull the furniture in, others secured the balcony railings with fabric so that the furniture would not get scratched. In the chatter and joy, without whining, the whole action of pulling the bookcase over the balcony was unprecedented! The joy was great and it was not even disturbed by the fact that the bookcase was already in the house, but it was still one floor away from the target location. There was no chance of carrying it downstairs and in this way, the oak finished piece is pleasing the eye and the objects belonging to Karolina’s and Michal’s son, who was lucky to live on the second floor. To wipe their tears, they were left with an tv unit and… lamellas. The end result passed our and the owners’ expectations! See for yourself!
